POD 19, How Christ Supernatural Power Can Help You Not Quit, Feel Like A Victim, and Bring You Out

[00:00:00] Are you struggling to find the right answer to your health question? Maybe you got a diagnosis, or you're just at your wit's end trying to figure out a diet and exercise, how to get rid of hormonal issues, hot flashes, you have severe headaches. Maybe it's emotional and mental pain, worry, and fear keeping you up.
[00:00:29] And today, I wanna talk about one of my favorite topics, especially since coming back to Jesus and having such a change in how I emotionally and mentally deal with life. And so this is about strength, about not giving up no matter what, unless you're redirected by God. I wanna help you with the message, as a believer, that you do not have to be alone.
[00:00:59] You don't have to be alone in your fear, in your worry, in your doubt. And this is coming from scripture, Philippians 4:13, "With all things..." Or I'm sorry, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." And so I'm bringing up three points that I believe when you start to really digest these three points, get them in your heart, get them so they become like a second the, a second thought right after you start having a, a dilemma going on in your life, or thoughts of weakness, of doubt, of fear, worry, this comes up in your mind.
[00:01:44] Remember these three things, because I wanna help you go from any type of hopelessness to abundance of hope, to wanting to give up, to be so assured with Christ confidence. And- And just to know that those feelings that you have, even though they are so real in your life, when you, when Christ comes into your life, you have the advantage.
[00:02:17] You have the love of God who has sent Jesus to, to save us, and He did, and now we have the Holy Spirit. So let's dive into three points that I think if you start to, to really digest these and look at them, and I'll even, I'll show you proof throughout, throughout the Bible that these are available to you as well.
[00:02:41] This will start to change how you handle things going on in your life, health or not, just emotional and mental, that I believe this can really set you on a different track, and that it can have a different outcome, and one that God wants for you, because He's always working behind the scenes. But we have to participate, and when we participate with a mind like the three points I'm going to bring up, I believe it will make a big difference in your future, and especially your health.
[00:03:15] Okay, point number one is I am not limited by my own energy, and I think this is best demonstrated from the story of Joshua. Now, I love Joshua because I think he's easy to relate to because we find ourselves in these positions, but we see a man who is stepping into something so much greater than what he, ever had the experience to do, the emotional capacity to do.
[00:03:47] He definitely didn't feel like he had the strength to do it, and we might be there right now in our own life. What is going on in your life that you feel that it's, it's too big for you? Well, that's how Joshua felt, and just... he was watching Moses. Moses was his leader, his mentor and the one who spoke face to face with God.
[00:04:15] And Moses died, and now God turns to Joshua and says, "Now you lead." And that is not a small assignment. The responsibility of leading an entire nation into the Promised Land, facing big cities with trained armies, and all of these unknown battles that he was going to be up against. And if we slow down for that moment, Joshua, he was not standing there confident thinking, "Okay, God, you know, I, I know you're in this.
[00:04:51] I think I can do it." He wasn't trying to work himself up. He likely was very overwhelmed and grieving from Moses and thinking, "I don't have what it takes," and you might be feeling that right now. And honestly, he would have been right because that assignment was, w- was enormous in one man's eyes to, to go into land with big armies trained and someone with no or barely any experience.
[00:05:25] And so God speaks into Joshua, and he speaks to his limitation. And I want you to hear this because this may be the very limitation that you are thinking is you. But God he says, "Be strong and courageous, for I am with you."
[00:05:48] In other words, God shifts the foundation of Joshua's confidence away from his own internal strength and places it on God's presence within him. He had to lean on God.
[00:06:01] He had to, to expect God to come through for him. But God was teaching him, and us, that you are not alone.
[00:06:11] His strength came from the presence of God, and your strength, your strength within you is going to come from God. Joshua was not limited by his own energy because God never asked him to operate from his own energy. He was asking him, "Operate with me." So when we say, "I'm not limited by my own energy," we're stepping into that same truth that Joshua had to learn.
[00:06:41] I may feel tired. I may feel sick right now. I may have headaches that are unbearable. I may feel unqualified. I may be overwhelmed by this diagnosis. But my assignment is not sustained by my natural capacity. It's sustained by God's supernatural presence. We need to stop measuring our future by our current energy level, by our limitations that we see with our eyes, by our feelings that are bringing up this, this doubt We have to stop believing that what we feel is going to determine what we can actually do or has a say in your future.
[00:07:25] Because just like Joshua, you are being sent with God's strength. And if God is with you, then your energy is not the limitation. Your limitation is not believing God is with you and not believing in point number two, which is, it's actually one of the central themes in all of the New Testament, and that is the supernatural power of Christ.
[00:07:49] Just saying that gives me power. Say that to yourself, the supernatural power of Christ
[00:08:00] It's, it's not even just like a single expression in the New Testament. It's taught all around the New Testament. I'm gonna prove to you with five scriptures that God is telling us that we have the supernatural power of Christ within us. Ephesians 1:19 and 20,
[00:08:17] this is probably the most powerful ver- verse if we can really get this, because we're like, "I don't have power. I don't see... I- there's no way I could raise someone from the dead," which I'm going to tell you at the end of this podcast how that is not true, and how... Oh, I have a whole bunch to tell you at the end, so stick with me for that.
[00:08:37] But we do have that power. "What is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His great might that He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead." Paul says that very power that God used to raise Jesus from the dead is at work in you. It's God's power operating in those who trust Him, and this is where faith comes in. We have to know faith is real. It's a substance. We just can't see it with our eyes, but faith is real, and it's working right in front of you now. You don't have the capacity to see it, but you have to trust that God is working with you Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us."
[00:09:38] Notice it doesn't say our power, it says His power. So it's His power working in us. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, 9 through 10, "My grace is sufficient for you. My power is made perfect in weakness." And I remember this for this verse a lot in that story of Paul because Paul says, "For when I'm weak, then I am strong."
[00:10:06] And I remember just saying this more recently, that I had worked on a project, and I'd typed it all in. I'd worked on it all morning, and I accidentally deleted it. I deleted the whole thing. And I used to think, "How can you delete something on accident?"
[00:10:21] Well, it was just, I accidentally hit a button that I don't even know why it deleted. I didn't go up to the delete button, but something happened. It just de- deleted. And I was so angry. I remember specifically thinking, "This is going to be okay." And immediately, all my work is gone, and I felt, you know, I was reacting with this anger, and I just, I wanted to stop for the day.
[00:10:46] And I do remember specifically Paul's voice, "I am made strong when I am weak." I felt weak because all of a sudden I felt this, like, victimish feeling that I'd just lost all of my work But I had to remember that I have that strength, and it's like a peace comes over you for a moment, and then you remember the power, and then you can quote scripture or just settle into that power that you've, that all of a sudden you have, jesus Christ can change you. The Holy Spirit can change you in the snap of a finger. And so in that weakness, that giving up, victimhood, I'm angry, I lost everything, I was made strong. And you know what? When I came back, I always tell myself now, something better is going to show up, and it...
[00:11:39] And I really do believe after all the times this has happened that something better does show up. Okay, the next one, Colossians one twenty-nine. Paul describes his ministry this way.
[00:11:49] He says, "For this I toil," struggling with all his energy that He powerfully works within me. So Paul wasn't passive. He preached, he traveled, he taught, he did all these things, and he was up against so much. He had been beaten, he had been shipwrecked, he, uh, was in jail, he was starving, he was cold, but he just kept reminding himself that the supernatural power of God is in work, i- is at work within him.
[00:12:18] And so that phrase, it means God is continuously energizing Paul from the inside out, and He will energize you. So when you're feeling this weakness right now, when you're feeling doubt, when you're looking at that diagnosis paper, what I want you to do is truly know that the supernatural power of God is within you, john 15:5 says, "Jesus said, 'Apart from me, you can do nothing.'"
[00:12:45] Jesus said, "Apart from me, you can do nothing." If we abide in Him, we bear much fruit. Our strength comes remaining connected to Christ. He's the vine, we are the branch. So just summing all of this up from all the scripture, the point is the supernatural power of Christ. What is it? It is the work of the Holy Spirit within us as a believer.
[00:13:11] It enables us to do what we can never accomplish in our own strength to go up against, to obey, to love, to overcome temptation to deal with some crisis in our life, but He gives us that strength. He gives us the healing. He lets us bear fruit, and He lets us, with His power, overcome what is standing right before us.
[00:13:34] It could be frustration, excess weight, diagnosis, hot flashes, headaches, uh, an aching heart, an emotional and mental catastrophe. You have the power of Christ that will help you
[00:13:48] it's when your strength gets weak, and you're at the end, and you're, wanna give up, that's right when He picks you up, and you go into His supernatural ability, and that leads me to point three. When we are with God, when we pair with the Holy Spirit and have faith, we are limitless with God. Do not quit. Do not give up.
[00:14:15] Do not give in to the enemy's words trying to flood your head God will give you strength when you're exhausted. He will give you peace when you're anxious and worrying. He will give you self-control when you're tempted to eat more, to not work out, to not look at your life from, from His glorious eyes of what is possible and coming to you should you walk in faith.
[00:14:45] He gives you hope when you're discouraged, courage when you are afraid, and He gives you the perseverance when you want to quit. That is the supernatural power of God. We have to remind ourselves that I am not limited by my own energy because Christ carries the power I need. And God, He can redirect your path if needed.
[00:15:10] Maybe you're moving forward and you're like, "I don't even know if this is the right way to handle this situation." God can redirect you, but He needs you to be in motion. We can't just sit there and wait for some answer to plop into your head. We have to move forward in the way that we feel is His will, and we need to pray about that.
[00:15:34] How do we handle this diagnosis? How do I handle this diet? I've been searching. I'm not getting answers. I am confused. I am broke. I am frustrated. All of these things, and we just have to, to set our minds on Him above. We have to realize that the supernatural power of God is within us. We have to declare we are not going to quit.
[00:15:57] We are going to walk in His strength. And one of the stories that I love that illustrates this is the story of Hannah. Remember Hannah? Um, 1 Samuel 1, Hannah desperately wants a child, but year after year, she does not get pregnant. And in that culture, infertility wasn't just heartbreaking, it was very, very shameful.
[00:16:18] And she watched another wife that was close by, Peninnah, she was having children, she wasn't the friend that consoled her. She intentionally mocked her and provoked her.
[00:16:31] Scripture says Peninnah provoked her grievously to irritate her, 1 Samuel 1:6-7. And Hannah would weep, and sometimes she wouldn't even eat because her heart was filled with so much sorrow. So she wasn't physically hurting. She was emotionally depleted, mentally exhausted. And this wasn't like it just happened in a little season of a few months.
[00:16:53] This was for years. And here's what Hannah did. She did not quit. She didn't put a wall around her heart because it's easy to get resentful or angry at a situation. And maybe something's happened to us that it's not our fault, but we're like collateral damage to somebody else's choices.
[00:17:15] Maybe it is you, you followed the, the protocol like a doctor told you, and you, you didn't get a result, and you're upset. Maybe you've dieted, and you've done all these things, but now you have arthritis because of what the diet did to you. There's so many, so many things that can happen in our life. But Hannah, and this was so big and monumental to her everyday life, she did not stop worshiping God.
[00:17:45] She brought her pain to God, and she went into the tabernacle. She pulled out-- poured out her heart. She was disappointed, full of fear, longing to hear from the Lord. And she was... Well, she was in there praying and praying. In fact, Eli, the priest, he thought she was drunk because she was praying so intensely and speaking so loudly.
[00:18:09] But Hannah replied, "I've been pouring out my soul before the Lord." She wasn't pretending she was okay, and she wasn't stuffing her emotions. She wasn't getting angry, having outbursts. She wasn't blaming everybody
[00:18:26] It says, here's the, and here's the turning point. It, scripture says, 1 Samuel 1:18, "Then the woman went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast." Notice something here. Nothing in her circumstance changed. She still wasn't pregnant. No miracle had happened. God hadn't spoken to her, but she had changed.
[00:18:52] She walked away stronger before she walked away with her answer. So as you're, as you're going through a, a health dilemma, maybe emotional or mental dilemma, you're feeling drained, and you're wondering if anything will ever change, Hannah would say, "Don't quit." I am telling you, do not quit. Not because you're, you're not strong enough, but because Jesus is your strength.
[00:19:20] Lean on Him. Pour your heart into prayer. Receive His peace, receive His direction, and take the next faithful step, because God strengthens us before He changes our circumstances usually. The supernatural strength, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, it means that you can endure it. You can keep trusting.
[00:19:44] I have a strength in the power of Jesus. I'll keep obeying. I keep moving forward. I keep taking steps. I keep trusting the Lord
[00:19:58] We have to remember these stories all throughout the Bible that these, these people did not receive strength from themselves or from others. She received strength, others received strength and, and guidance from God. The miracle began in her heart before it turned up in her life, and that's what happens when we stop leaning on our own strength and striving, and begin to lean on Jesus.
[00:20:28] So what I say to you is don't quit, keep learning, keep trusting, keep taking faithful steps. The same God who strengthened Hannah is the same God who lives in you, and He, and you, I should say, can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens you. So I want to, to say a prayer for all of us. And really, really hear this.
[00:20:56] This is a prayer that I feel you can come back to and can help you, and I will put it below in the show notes, and then I wanna leave you with a message about healing and a diagnosis. Okay Heavenly Father, I come before you acknowledging that you alone are my source of strength, hope, and healing. I never meant to carry the weight of life in my own power.
[00:21:25] I know that, and thank you that I don't have to rely on my limited energy and emotions and understanding or willpower. It is your word that says I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me, and I choose to believe that today.
[00:21:44] And Lord, I pray for the woman diagnosed by or dis-- And Lord, I pray for the woman discouraged by diagnosis, exhaustion, ongoing disappointment, fear, self-doubt, and circumstances that are keeping her stuck and worrisome and in fear. Remind her that her true strength is not found in solutions or striving, but in you alone
[00:22:14] Help me not to measure my future by my present circumstances, Lord. My limitations are not yours, and my weakness may show up, but it is not... But it is in that moment where your supernatural second wind will kick in, and I trust in you, Lord, that your strength is there in me. Teach me to lean unto you, Lord, to trust you, and to take step, and to take these next steps in faith even when I cannot see the outcome.
[00:22:44] Even when I cannot see the outcome. Today, I choose faith over fear, and I declare that I have the wisdom and the stamina and the grace to move through this time in my life because I have you, Lord. And I declare that I no longer am limited. I have the supernatural power of Jesus Christ in me. Your peace guards me, your wisdom is leading me, Lord, and your joy is sustaining my heart.
[00:23:13] Thank you for the courage to keep going. I will not quit. I believe you're working behind the scenes even when I cannot see it, and I trust you are working in me. I choose to live in faith with your power. All things are possible according to your will. And thank you for walking with me, Lord. Thank you and reminding me that I am never alone.
