Should You Supplement with Glutathione? Should I Supplement with
Glutathione Should you take glutathione? That is the question we’re
tackling today. And if you’ve been paying attention to health trends,
you’re probably heard women start talking about glutathione. It’s a
master antioxidant. It’s an anti-aging molecule. It’s the key to
detoxification. It sounds amazing, right? So the natural question is,
should I buy it? And that is what I’m talking about today. I want to
explain what glutathione is, what you should know about it, and then you
can determine if it’s the best supplement for you. And then the , three
things that I think everyone who is looking at a supplement, they should
start to ask themselves these questions, because I think it will help
you and save you money and time and frustration if you start to
understand , how to go about deciding supplements if they’re right for
you or not. Because at True Root Health, I’m less interested in what do
I need to put in, and more interested in how can I get my body highly
functioning the way God designed it naturally. And then if I need
supplements, I will take them. I do take supplements. I like
supplements, let’s dive in so, so let’s just dive in here. What is
glutathione? It is often called the master antioxidant, and that is no
exaggeration because every cell in your body depends on it. Glutathione
protects your cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals, and
it also supports detoxification in your liver, one of the busiest organs
in your body, and it helps with your immune system, and it helps recycle
other antioxidants that you need, like vitamin C and vitamin E, so you
can continue that army, that protection for your cells. So simply put,
glutathione is essential. But here’s the part most people never hear.
Your body is designed to make it, and that’s where I think the
conversation becomes fascinating because God built a whole pharmacy
inside of you. It’s a manufacturing plant for wonderful um, hormones
and, and chemical messengers. , It’s… it is brilliant beyond
understanding. And so when you start to understand glutathione
production, this will help you make a decision for yourself because not
everyone is going to arrive at the same answer. Going back to
glutathione production, yes, it’s in every cell produces it and also the
liver. It’s responding because you have to remember that the body always
has like feedback loops. It, it is in constant monitoring. Homeostasis
is how God designed your body to operate, and then you receive red flags
and symptoms when homeostasis is out of balance. So it’s always looking
at oxidative stress, it’s measuring inflammation, it’s responding to
toxins, and from that feedback, it begins to put glutathione into
production. So how does it do this? I won’t spend too much time on the
making of glutathione from a chemical standpoint, but we know that takes
three amino acids, cysteine, glycine, and glutamate. We know that
glycine and glutamate are very abundant in our bodies for the most part,
but cysteine is a different story. And the whole reason is because there
are so many pathways that need cysteine, and your body will prioritize,
where do we put this cysteine? And you’re saying, “Put it in the
glutathione production line.” But your body’s saying, “No, we have other
things that we prioritize over that.” It’s kind of like hair. We think,
“Oh, I just want thick hair,” but your body, your body puts hair very,
very low on the totem pole. And so we have to say, “Okay, well,
cysteine’s being used elsewhere.” But in my mind, years ago, I would’ve
said, “Okay, I’m gonna give my body all the raw materials so I can just
have so much glutathione because it’s so awesome.” But you can’t do that
either because if you have too much free cysteine in the body, that can
become harmful, almost like a free radical, and your body does not want
that. Just i- it’s almost like also if you took vitamin C, if you take
an abundance of vitamin C for your immune system, your body will say too
much and you’ll have diarrhea. You’ll expel it. So it does have a very
tight monitoring system. And so when we’re looking at the raw materials,
just know it’s not as simple as let’s just put in a bunch of raw
materials and then I’ll get more production of glutathione. So the
second part to this is why is my production slowing down? Why do I feel
like I’m accelerating aging? And this is really important because this
is where we as women have a, a say in this because it is through
interference. We’re getting in the way of what our body does, and
there’s five main reasons that this happens. The first is chronic
inflammation, because inflammation creates continual oxidative stress,
and your body begins using up glutathione faster than it can replace it,
so your body just can’t keep up. The second reason is blood sugar
instability. So every time you have a spike, whenever you grab that,
that brownie and there’s nothing in your stomach, and you have that
spike, and then moments later, or I shouldn’t say that, moments, but an
hour later you have a crash, that causes additional oxidative stress. So
therefore, the demand goes up for glutathione. The third reason is poor
sleep. That is when your body is to repair and to restore, and if you’re
tossing and turning, you’re waking up in the middle of the night, night
sweats are, are making you wake up, you’re not getting a good restful
sleep through the night, then that will also take glutathione from the
production line the fourth obviously is inadequate nutrition. We need
those raw materials. We need the amino acids. We need vitamins and
minerals and cofactors that are all responsible for producing
glutathione And the fifth reason, obviously my specialty, toxic burden.
And the greater the toxic load, the greater the demand for your body to,
help you not be burdened by the toxins. It has a, a whole system in
place, many that can help you not be burdened by toxicity. This is why
it’s one of the first things we do in my program, because a lot of
people, they want to put things in the body, help my body, I’m going to
take these super foods. I’m going to , take all these supplements. If
you have systems not functioning properly because of the toxins and
because of the burden put on your body from things you’ve put on your
skin or your hair or makeup or things you’ve eaten, the water you drink,
the air you breathe, the stress that you’re under, all of that
interferes with the ability to use the nutrients that you’re bringing
in. So that is very important. So when you have toxic burden, you are in
effect using up glutathione. So this brings me to my next question. Why
not just take glutathione then? Why not just supply my body with enough?
Well, I have three reasons, and I really believe these reasons, this is
how you should evaluate every supplement. Number one, when you start to
supply your body with a nutrient or a supplement like glutathione, it
begins to regulate from what is in your body. So you’re saying, “Oh,
I’ve got enough.” So your body says, “Well, I guess we don’t need to
produce anymore.” So if you’re replacing what the body is looking for
signals to make, and you’re putting enough in your body or putting more
in your body, it’s getting mixed signals, and your production will, will
slow down. And this really goes for other things as well, like digestive
ens- enzymes. If you keep supplying your body with digestive enzymes and
hydrochloric acid on demand from you, your body gets mixed signals, and
you start to Your digestion starts to depend on you. Just like if you
were to take laxatives, if you’re constipated and you’re taking
laxatives and outside, um, sources to help have a bowel movement, your
body loses that ability, not completely, but it’s definitely not
functioning to the level that it could to move your bowels down, to have
peristalsis to remove the waste properly. So a lot of times we don’t
wanna interfere, and it doesn’t happen all the time, and sometimes you
can do … you know, take short periods of time to help your body. But do
look at if I take something exogenous, is it going to help my endogenous
production? And in this case, I believe it does. Okay, number two is we
don’t know if that supplement can do what your body does. Your body
doesn’t make glutathione for your desires. It knows when to make it
based on signaling. It knows how much to make. It knows where to send
it. It knows these things by the intercommunication between the cells
and the signaling, and we have yet to really discover all of that. We
don’t really know God’s design, and I believe when we get in the way of
that- that we could cause more problems than, than we really, you know,
need to experience. And then number three is that is not getting to the
root of the problem. If your body isn’t making enough glut- glutathione,
then there’s usually a reason, and maybe it doesn’t have to do with raw
materials or pathways. Maybe it’s inflammation. Maybe it’s poor sleep
or - blood sugar problems or toxins that have been burdened for years
your body has stored. Maybe even emotional and mental stress happening.
Inhibiting the production of glutathione and the distribution factor.
There’s so many things we don’t know about the body, and one thing that
I know for sure is your heart, not your physical heart, but your heart,
your soul, if you have stress and unhealed wounds, it does impact cells.
What we do know is that when we are not emotionally and mentally sound,
that our, our physical body suffers. And so I just wanna throw that in
there ’cause that, that’s one message I truly want to get out, is that
really looking at your whole health, I believe the first thing you need
to do is get it, get it functioning at a level, a baseline, a foundation
of health. And then when you start to say, “Okay, wait a minute, my, my
glutathione is still low. I want to supply it,” I, personally me, I
would do that in a very short period of time and, and stop and then work
with my body more. So that’s how I would handle it. So we talked about
what glutathione was, how you can interfere with it, and what my take is
on should you take it. In part two, because I do wanna follow up with-
Um, how can we restore these processes? What are the raw materials? What
pathways can I support? And through that, I hope you get even a further
understanding and can make even a better decision for yourself. All
right? I hope this was helpful. If you want, an answer to how to restore
your health, I have a four-month program, Healthy and Victorious, where
